Congratulations to Ben Allen on a superb silver medal at the National Cross Country Championships at Sedgefield.
Ben was in the leading group of the U17 race from the start and put himself in a great position for a medal as one of three athletes that moved away from the pack as the race progressed. The lead continually changed between Ben and Rory Barclay-Watt from Exeter Harriers but the Exeter athlete moved into the lead in the last 40m and held on to win.
In the same race, Jack Hadley also had a great run, finishing 86th of the 209 finishers whilst in the U15 event, Brandan Smart came a fantastic 30th out of 281 finishers.

Works begin on the new entrance to Rowley Park next Monday (23rd February). The top car park will be out of action which will mean there will be few, if any, available car parking spots on site.
Freedom will be leaving all pedestrian gates around the site open until 9pm and are encouraging anyone using the park to walk in.
Please be mindful of local residents if street parking.
The works are planned to take five weeks.

It was the final Birmingham & District Cross Country League meeting of the season on Saturday (7th) at Redditch and, unfortunately, our Senior Men's relegation was confirmed after their campaign amongst the Midland's top cross country teams
James Russell finished 70th of the 220 runners that competed the race and Tom Eustace was not far behind in 73rd. Phil Wolfe finished 83rd, Harrison Hardy-Smith 117th, Matt Bonney 141st, Craig Pearson 152nd and Tom Orton 175th.
The final West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country meeting of the season took place at Aldersley Stadium on Sunday.
After winning the first three races of the season, Brandan Smart started the U15B race knowing that a top three finish would guarantee him the overall title outright. Unfortunately, Brandan finished in fifth and missed out by a single point. Charlie Cresswell finished fourth on the day to also finish fourth overall and Finlay Stanton was 6th on the day and 6th overall.
Lila Pearce won the U13G race but had only competed in three races during the season which put her out of contention for the overall awards.
In the U17M, Jack Hadley came 11th to place him 5th overall for the season, Luke Cresswell 18th and George Millinchip 25th.
Isla Unitt finished 8th in the U15G race for 9th place overall and Katherine Grainger came 15th on the day.
